How to use social media for your platform growth

As a titleholder, our platform is one of the most important parts of our year
of service. Highlighting a cause during the year and bringing awareness or creating
ways to raise money and fundraise for that cause are just some of the ways we help
others. But, many times, titleholders wonder “How can I reach more people that
can help with my platform?” The number one answer to that? Social Media!
Social media has become a part of our daily ritual. We scroll through various apps
daily, consuming content, watching videos, liking and commenting on posts, and
sharing posts with others. Since it’s part of our daily lives, why not take advantage
of those apps? Not sure where to start? Here are a few ways to utilize social media
to make your platform even more successful!

1. Picture Perfect

When going to events for your platform, such as fundraisers or drives,
walks/5k’s, or even charity balls, make sure to take pictures! Not only will you
remember the event and how much fun you had, but people will see you out
and about in your crown and sash making a difference and helping others!

2. Lights, Camera, Action!

Vlogs, TikToks, Reels. Whatever you want to call them, making short videos
providing information about your platform is another great way to get the
word out about your cause! Provide facts and statistics in your videos, as well
as graphics and pictures! Using this type of strategy will pique the interest of
your audience and create curiosity for others to look more into your
platform topic!

3. Let’s get Graphic!

When creating content for your platform, you want to provide as much
information to your audience as possible! But, many times if there are too
many words or too much going on in your post, your followers will just scroll
past after losing interest. Provide a cute graphic with two to three facts,
these can be statistics or tidbits of information your audience can read and it
will give them a little more knowledge about your platform.

4. Stay Consistent!

Don’t post and ghost! No one likes to be ghosted! Make sure you are posting
regularly to your social media accounts! If you run out of pictures to post or
you take a break from social media, come up with fun videos, or post
headshots and fun candid pictures from events or appearances so your
followers know you have not disappeared!

5. Interaction is Key!

Creating a community on your social media takes just as much work as
creating your community around you! Interaction is an important part of
creating and maintaining that community! When posting on your socials,
remember to respond to comments on your posts! Let people know you
have read their comments and thank them for their compliments and
answer any questions that they may have. If you see people you follow
posting, make sure to comment on their posts as well! Support other
titleholders by commenting on their posts and liking and sharing their posts!
Odds are, they might just do the same for you!

By utilizing social media and using these strategies, you are not only raising
awareness for your platform, but helping others understand what your
platform is and ways they can help!

Good luck and happy posting!
